Mountain Goats on the Olympic Peninsula Wilderness Hike!
Five Scouts and one adult chose to do something different
this summer instead of Scout camp. Tino Villanueva, Sean Love, Aaron
Sponseller, Justin VanHandle, and I went on a "High Adventure Camp."
There are six different exposures that range from sea kayaking to iron
Man, climbing and hiking. We took the wilderness hike through the
Olympic National Forest. These Scouts all becam members of the Order
of the Marmont. This award presides O.A.
We completed 65 miles over six days.
Saw some of the most grand views in the Northwast. At one point,
while climbing to the top of Mt. Townsend, the Scouts were able to see
Victoria, Canada, the San Juans, and all the Washington cascades from Mt.
Baker to Mt. St. Helens and the Space Needle in Seattle.
The only complaints heard from the
Schouts was that they started with three stoves and ended up with 1/2,
barely. And then there was the food...
My only complaint was trying to keep
up with these mountain goats from Troop 20.
