MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA TO BENEFIT SALEM IHN September 16th at 7:00pm
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

CHRISTIANITY ~ THE FIRST THREE CENTURIES
 is a video series by Dr. Paul Maier ~ a campus pastor, a vice president of the LCMS, and a university professor of ancient history.  It will be shown between services during these summer months beginning next week in Room 101 (lower level).  Anyone is welcome.  There are eight segments, each running about 25-30 minutes.  The remainder of time will be used for discussion

SINGERS WANTED!
 Take your “singing in the shower” a step  further and  join with others in praising our Lord with song!  Choir rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, September 12th from 7:00-8:30pm. Anyone having an interest  is cordially invited ~ we’d love to have you join us!
 

WE NEED YOU !
 Sunday School teachers are needed to share in leading a “one-room class” for pre-school 3's through 4th grade children. Even if you can’t commit to an entire school year or have no teaching experience, this is a perfect opportunity to serve by sharing the responsibility with fellow teachers. So, “get your feet wet” and contact Sue Larson (503) 364-4918, Kathy Hensley (503) 588-0171 or Lisa-Anne Brown (503) 588-0171 to volunteer!
 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
 for the fall months will begin on Sunday, September 9th.  There will be an orientation in the multi-purpose room (201) to introduce the program and the staff for the year.   Kurt Honore’ will also give a presentation sharing his experience teaching in China with ELI (English Language Institute). Please note there will be no classes on Sunday, September 2nd due to Labor Day weekend.
 

FAITH BUILDERS’ CHALLENGE
 The first annual “Faith Builders’ Challenge” event is a dinner and auction to help support future building projects at Camp Lutherwood.  The event will be held in Portland at the Multnomah Arts Center on Saturday, September 8th and tickets are $50.00 per person or $400.00 per table of eight.  Ticket order forms are available in the church office or you may contact Dawn Adams at (503) 363-3988 for further information.

MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA TO BENEFIT SALEM IHN
 More than nine musical groups from local congregations will gather on Sunday, September 16th at 7:00pm in Our Savior Lutheran church for the 4th annual Benefit Concert for the Salem Interfaith Hospitality Network.  A reception after the concert will celebrate the more than 8oo volunteers (!) From 30 congregations that provide meals, money, supplies and love for the homeless families served by Salem IHN.  You are cordially invited! 

Salem IHN provides emergency shelter for homeless families that stay at local congregations, working with them to find housing and employment while keeping families together so children can be raised in a stable environment.

SHARE THE JOY AND THE TRUE GOSPEL OF CHRISTMAS
 especially with unchurched relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  A special way to do this is to bring them to Portland’s Singing Christmas Tree  at Keller Civic Auditorium.  The Board of Evangelism sponsored bus trip is for the Saturday matinee November 24th - the weekend after Thanksgiving Day (see hallway notices).   For information on all tickets or the bus trip, call Jack & Verna Bushek @ (503) 32-5831.
