As a supporter of the agricultural industry, I'd like to offer you the opportunity to pledge your continued support to the Oregon Agricultural Education Foundation. The foundation continues to provide the people of Oregon with educational opportunities and research in the fields of agriculture, forestry and natural resources.

Some of the projects that are active and making a difference in the lives of Oregonians include:

• Summer Ag Institute, a week-long class offered to K-12 teachers to educate them about the "real world" in agriculture, forestry and natural resources. The class is offered twice during the summer and is worth three graduate credits.
• The Memorial Scholarship is the oldest project in the foundation and has awarded as much as $25,000 in the last two years to college students.
• The Agriculture Infrastructure Project and the Willamette Valley Alternative Futures Program are both projects that are looking at the longterm viability of agriculture. The WVAF Project identifies two alternatives for development patterns into the year 2050. One of the patterns is based on historical trends and the other assumes a more compact development pattern. The growth of our population casues direct and indirect impacts on farm and forest production, as well as the costs of providing certain public services. The results from this research should be available in the Spring of 2000.

As you can see, we are busy here at the foundation and hope to continue with our mission as the need for education and research in our industry increases. To help us with our endeavor, we are seeking support with our Annual Giving Program. The program would be a commitment from you for a donation of at least $350/year for a minimum of three years. Please take this opportunity to help us continue to provide Oregon with the educational and research possibilities that will enable agriculture and all of its endeavors to prosper in the future.
