There are some options to consider. The theology is available in ASCII text file format as well
as .html files, Adobe Acrobat .pdf file, and Micro Soft Word 97 .doc file.
All of the formats have the same information, just different ways of using the information.
The ASCII you will use in your word processor, the .htm you will use with your internet browser,
the .pdf you will use with the Adobe Acrobat program, and the .doc file you would use
with your Micro Soft Word 97 (or compatible) word processor. The .doc and .pdf files are
searchable using search or find options, which is a great advantage.
The files are in self extracting .exe files.
I have just finished converting some of the books to a format that can be
used
on PDAs. There are some options to be considered. Anyone that has
downloaded
.txt or .htm files can use these files in a number of PDAs.
I have converted the files to MOBI reader format which is a reader that works
with all of the current PDAs according to their literature. This includes
the
Franklin Ebookman.
I have also converted the files to MicroSoft's reader format.
Just decide which format you would like, and download as usual.
I have not had time to check all these files, but the spot checking I have
done looks
very good.
ALSO there is a new books relating to teaching, zeal
and the book of
Colossians for reading online or
download in .txt or .doc format.
A GUIDE TO THE USE OF THE DOWNLOAD FILES
FOR ASCII FILES
After downloading the file, place it in a directory
where you want to store the theology. Go to file manager in windows 3.1/explorer
in windows 95 and double click on the file. This will automatically extract the
files. There will be a number of files. File 00050 is a table of contents and
gives the overview of the entire work. File 00100 is an index. These two files
can be printed out for ease of use. These files are ASCII/DOS text files and can
be imported into any word processor. (If you happen to be working in DOS you can
also use these files in DOS word processors.)
FOR .HTML FILES
After downloading the file, place it in a directory
where you want to store the theology. Go to file manager in windows 3.1/explorer
in windows 95 and double click on theohtm.exe. This will automatically extract
the files. File 00050 is a table of contents and gives the overview of the
entire work. The online2.htm file is the index for the work. Just wind up your
favorite browser, ask to open a local file and load online2.htm to begin. These
two files can be printed out for ease of use.
FOR WORD .DOC FILE
This file is for those with Microsoft Word 97Word processor (or compatible) or you can download a WORD 97
viewer for free from Microsoft. Just go to the address below and look for downloads.
There is a Windows 3.x version as well as a Windows 95 version. Microsoft also will mail the
programs to you for the cost of shipping and handling. The viewer programs allow for viewing, cut and paste.
This file is set up with the
table of contents in the online, or map view so that you can select the section you
want to go to and immediately go to it. This is a self extracting zipped file.
Just move it to the directory where you want the file and double click on the file
name (theoword.exe). in Windows 3.x file manager or Windows 95 explorer.
This will automatically unzip the file.
FOR .PDF FILE
After downloading the file, place it in a directory where you want to store the theology. Go to file manager in
windows 3.1/explorer in windows 95 and double click on the file. This will automatically extract the file.
Just start your Adobe Acrobat reader and and open the theopdf.pdf file. The file is completely searchable
if you have the search feature on your reader, or you can use the find function.
Adobe allows you to download their reader free from their website if you don't have a copy. Just
look for downloads and/or updates option, then look for the reader program.
The .pdf file is available through the efforts of the Ages Software folks.
They put a lot of time and effort into the conversion of the theology for use on their
cdrom of Christian literature. If you would like more information on their electronic
library just click on their logo below.
THE MASTER CHRISTIAN LIBRARY Version 8 contains 500 resources.
This cdrom contains works from Wesley, Calvin, Clarke, Edwards, Moody, Spurgeon, Bunyon
and many others. It also contains dictionaries, word studies, commentaries, Bible studies,
early Christian writings, and other items of interest. The information is searchable by topic as well.
