Do you want to leave a legacy?

The future of Oregon's wildlife, including birds of prey, rests with today's youth. Help Oregon Raptor Center spread the word by remembering us in your will. Extend your influence beyond your lifetime.

The following excerpt is from the "Leave a Legacy" organization which helps individuals and families with financial planning for charitable giving.

The Top 10 Things You Can Do Today To Leave a Legacy

  1. Prepare a will. Only 50% of those who pass away have one.
  2. Leave a gift in your will to the organizations that have made a difference in your life.Imagine the positive impact on our community if everyone made a donation to a favorite non-profit. Less than 6% of American households have included non-profits in an estate plan. In a recent year there were approximately two million deaths in the United States. Of those descendants, only half of 1% of the estates valued at $600,000 or more included charitable bequests.
  3. Leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the assets in your will to the non-profit of your choice.
  4. Consider using your assets for your charitable gift. These include, but aren't limited to: cash, stocks, bonds, CD's, real estate, vehicles, art and jewelry.
  5. Name the non-profit of your choice as the beneficiary of your pension plan or IRA.
  6. Purchase a new life insurance policy naming your favorite non-profit as the beneficiary.
  7. Name your favorite non-profit as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.
  8. Remember loved ones with memorial gifts.
  9. Encourage family and friends to leave gifts to non-profits in their wills.
  10. Ask your financial advisor to include charitable giving as part of counsel to clients.
