Raptors need you!

Oregon Raptor Center is a completely volunteer run organization. We cannot function without you! If you have an interest in working with birds of prey and live within commuting distance of Mill City, Oregon (many of our volunteers commute from Salem, about 45 minutes), consider becoming a raptor center volunteer. Even if you cannot make it to the center on a regular basis, some activities can be done from your home, including fundraising, raising feeder animals, trapping gophers and wild rodents, and leatherworking. There is no age limit on our volunteers, but children may require additional adult supervision. All volunteers will need to submit an application and sign necessary insurance forms.

Our volunteers do many things...

• clean and maintain cages
• assist with rehabilitation
• assist at educational programs
• raise and/or care for feeder animals (mice and chicks, mainly)
• serve on our decision-making board of directors
• make jesses and leashes for the educational birds
• build cages
• design and produce flyers and newsletters
• photograph birds and volunteers
• help at special events and fundraisers
• stuff envelopes and collate newsletters
• run errands (to hatchery, feed store, veterinarian, etc.)
• write (or assist with) grant proposals.

Whatever your interests and talents -- we probably have volunteer work for you! It can be a lot of fun -- sometimes messy -- but always rewarding! Write or send us e-mail for more information.
