Oregon Raptor Center is currently entering our tenth year of offering quality bird of prey educational programs to schools and organizations located in Oregon's Mid-Willamette Valley. We hope you will consider making one of our programs part of your curriculum.
We feel that the most effective method of protecting these special and important birds is to share their story. Many of the birds living at the Center are there as a result of a permanent injury resulting from interaction with humans. Our goal is to prevent other raptors from receiving such injuries by educating the next generation about importance of these majestic birds.
Our programs are specifically tailored to the needs and age level of your group. Various educational birds are available (at certain times) to visit your classroom, including a great-horned owl, saw-whet owl, screech owls, red-tailed hawk, merlin and American kestrels. Meet the birds now!
Programs can include a live presentation, slides and unlimited question and answer time. Your class may also choose to become more involved with ORC by sponsoring one of our permanent birds through our "Adopt-A-Raptor" program.
The fee for our educational programs is $25 per bird (you choose how many) plus $.28/mile for round-trip travel from Mill City, Oregon. If our fees are beyond your available budget, we suggest contacting local businesses in your area. These businesses can "sponsor" programs at your school or event and their expense may be tax-deductible.
Oregon Raptor Center operates under state and federal permits which prohibit the use of educational birds for promoting private businesses. This restricts our ability to do educational programs at commercial sites. If you are involved with a business and are interested in sponsoring a program, we would be willing to explore options that would fit within our legal guidelines.
Call us at our new phone number, (503) 873-5315 or e-mail us for more information. We promise to respond quickly. Our address for US Mail is P.O. Box 452, Mill City, Oregon 97360.
